Previous Retreats

“I had a fantastic time on the yoga retreat with Emmy.  She is a fantastic teacher and being a bit of a novice myself her teaching method is clear, concise and she makes you feel very comfortable and at ease.”
George Bear, yoga student on the Quadrangle retreat 2013 & 2015

Enjoy a long weekend away from the hustle and bustle and take the time and space to unwind and reconnect with yourself through the practice of yoga and meditation. The Quadrangle, just outside Shoreham in Kent, is a short, inexpensive train ride away from London but feels a million miles away. The Victorian farmstead buildings are surrounded by peaceful countryside, and beautiful gardens. The Quadrangle Trust is run as a centre for sustainable living and the creative arts. http://thequadrangletrust.com

Yoga and Meditation

Throughout the retreat, there will be regular yoga and meditation sessions, times for silent practice and plenty of opportunity to relax or take part in other activities such as swimming, boating, reading, walking or an art class. The yoga and meditation sessions will be tailored to invigorate and energise at the start of the day and restore and relax at the end of the day, to enable a nourishing yet restful retreat experience.

Your teachers

Emmy Lopes whose classes take influence from a range of disciplines from Qi-Gong to Yin. Safe, mindful alignment for each individual is central to her teaching. She will guide you through a flowing morning Hatha practice, with breath-integrated sequences which move organically between postures through to energise and nourish body and mind.

Danielle Hamm has trained in the UK and in India and can guide you in your practice. The style is a gentle Hatha flow, bringing awareness to your own body and alignment in the postures as well as allowing you to find deep relaxation and stillness through the co-ordination of breath and movement

Posture Workshop

On Saturday morning there is an optional posture workshop to allow us time to break down any of the yoga asana (postures) you would like more support with or have any niggling questions about. We will also run through principles that will have an impact on the most fundamental postures as well as the most complex. The session will be more interactive and will allow you to delve deeper into your practice.

Creativity Workshop

On Sunday afternoon you will have the opportunity to explore how movement, breath and awareness can empower us to create with more spontaneity. Inviting physical release and mindful presence can help us embody our creative instincts. The way we move and hold our bodies can either enhance or inhibit creativity. Using meditation, yoga-based movement and a voyage of discovery using colour and marks, this workshop will give you the opportunity to delve into your own creative process in a non-judgmental, nourishing environment.

Other Activities

There are beautiful walks in the surrounding area of varying lengths. If the weather is good you may want to try swimming or boating in the creek! There are also plenty of nooks and crannies to curl up with a good book or just be 🙂

Delicious home-cooked, vegetarian food will be provided for every meal. Fruit, healthy snacks, tea and coffee are available at all times.
